ThirtyFifty heads to Oz

Australians who don’t know their Sauvignon from their Semillon now have the chance to learn something about wine as ThirtyFifty builds on its success in the UK by launching its wine tasting business down under in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia. A team of wine consultants based in each of the state capitals – Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth – are ready and waiting to unleash the ThirtyFifty wine tasting experience on the Aussies with private and corporate wine tastings available in each city and the surrounding area.  The company hope to translate the success they have had in the UK over the past 5 years by offering what is at present a unique concept down under – a wine tasting experience at home or at work.

Wine expert and New Zealander Chris Scott, who heads up ThirtyFifty, says “We think Australian consumers and the corporate market will take up the idea with the same enthusiasm as the British – our wine tastings are a novel idea for a whole host of get-togethers, from hen weekends to work parties to birthday celebrations and, until now, no-one has filled this gap in Australia.”

So how does a ThirtyFifty wine tasting work? “We come armed with wines, glasses, tasting notes and all the ingredients for a fun packed session.” Says Chris “Guests are then guided through a series of wines interspersed with a few trade tricks – e.g. how to estimate the value of a bottle of wine and a special trick that helps uncover those with the best palate!”  While the Aussies are used to drinking their own wine, ThirtyFifty tastings will let them try wines from Europe and elsewhere in the New World as well as what’s on their doorstep. To source the wines ThirtyFifty has teamed up with Australia’s fine wine specialist Vintage Cellars to offer 3 ranges of wines for the tastings – Australian wines, Australia vs rest of the world and International wines.
