Andrew Weeber on Gusbourne Estate

This show was published 29 September 2012

Overview

Andrew Weeber is a South African who moved to the UK in 1992. He studied at Stellenbosch University where his interest in wine developed. His vineyard, Gusbourne Estate, is located in Appledore in Kent, between Rye and Tenterden and only 10km from the sea. The farm is 500 acres of which 51 acres are planted with vines but with potential for another 200. Three different sparkling wines are produced with the first vintage in 2006, released in 2011 and the second vintage in 2007, on release now. Andrew's next project is to build a winery on the estate having just gained planning permission and sights are set on developing sales in the UK and in export markets.
