Matteo Lunelli of Ferrari Winery on Trentino Part 1

This show was published 04 October 2019

Overview

Matteo Lunelli is CEO and president of Ferrari Winery, founded in 1902 by Giulio Ferrari, the first to grow Chardonnay in Italy. They mainly a sparkling wine producer located in the region of Trentino-Alto Adige in Northern Italy, bordering Switzerland and Austria. The region is surrounded by mountains (the Alps) and lakes, including Italy's biggest, Lake Garda, with the Adige river running through. We talk about the soils, climate and altitude. In the summer there is a big variation between day and night. Warm sunny days and much cooler nights give the grapes good acidity (important for sparkling wines) and aroma development.
