- UK Wine Show 153 Bordeaux 2008 with Jean-Michel Laporte of La Conseillante
Overview
Chateau La Conseillante is one of the top producers in Pomerol, Bordeaux. Director Jean-Michel Laporte tells us about the 2008 vintage.
The vintage was very good but not an exceptional year with difficulties managing the vineyard due to mildew and botrytis. The harvest was relatively late at the end of September, beginning of October with dry weather leading up to picking. The wines are fresh with plenty of acidity, well-rounded and balanced. They are likely to age for 10-20 years.
The wines of La Conseillante were released at £49.50 per bottle which is 30% cheaper than 2007 but a better vintage, representing better value for the consumer. All of the 2007 vintage La Conseillante has been sold, they are a small producer making 40,000-50,000 bottles a year.
