- UK Wine Show 193 Jamie Hutchinson of The Sampler
Overview
Jamie Hutchinson owns the award winning wine shop The Sampler in Islington, London. We find out about his concept for sampling and selling wine and his plans for expansion.
The Sampler began trading in 2006 with a concept for wine that was unique in the wine trade. Consumers are encouraged to sample wines before they buy, using the Enometic wine vending system that dispenses wine in measured samples and keeps the wine in the bottle fresh. Customers use a card which they charge samples to and pay for.The systems allows them to offer a a wide range of wines to sample at different price points, from everyday to fine & rare wines. The machine only dispenses sample measures at The Sampler, rather than full glasses. Jamie has enjoyed increasing success in terms of sales and awards and will expand in 2010 to two new London sites.
