- UK Wine Show 216 Simon Tam on Chinese wine
Overview
Simon Tam is a Hong Kong based wine educator. We talk to Simon about the Chinese wine industry.
Its a little known fact that China produces more wine than Australia and the wine industry is thriving as more and more Chinese are consuming wine. The main vineyards are located around Beijing planted with indigenous grape varieties and the most of the wine is sold domestically. But, while the Chinese like to drink wine made in China, the influence of Western lifestyles is creating demand for international wine imports as well as Chinese wines made in China but using international grape varieties. Simon gives us an overview of the industry as it stands today and hints at what the future might hold.
