- UK Wine Show 48 Wine Storage Cabinets
Overview
Two competing manufacturers of wine cabinets are Dometic Wine Cellars and Liebherr. Each use very different technology to store wine so we find out how they work and explore the pros and cons of refrigeration and absorption technology.
The first interview is with Stuart Booth from Dometic Wine Cellars.
The technology behind the Dometic Wine Cellars is the exclusive absorption principle invented by Electrolux in 1925. The absorption technology doesn't use a compressor or generate vibrations. There are no moving parts. This ensures an exceptional lifespan in complete silence.
The second interview is with Steven Onglier, representing Liebherr.
Liebherr is a family-owned business established in 1954 manufacturing and selling domestic appliances, including regrigerators. In 1980 they branched out into wine cabinets using refrigeration technology. There are 30 different models with capacity from 40 to 230 bottles. The units retail between £799 to £3000. At the top end the cabinets have multiple storage areas to store wine at different temperatures. Liebherr cabinets are built specifically around the size of wine bottles whereas some wine fridges are normal fridges converted for wine storage.
