China reduces tariff on Australia wines

As part of the Free Trade Agreement have slashed the import tariff on Australian wine to 5.6% which will cut tariffs to zero by 2019. Chile and New Zealand both enjoy zero tariff on wines thanks to the FTA and, in the second half of this year, China will scrap tariff on Georgian wines as well. Australia are currently behind France having overtaken the US for wine imports into China. This gives a great boost to Australia's growing presence in China. Although Australian wines are still subject to 17% VAT and 10% excise tax.
