A small Argentine 2017 vintage hit by frost
The Southern hemisphere harvest is drawing to a close and Argentina has had a small vintage hit by frost at the beginning of the growing season. The frost-hit crop was down by 40-60%, similar to the Loire valley and many parts of Northern Europe from 2 weeks ago. The light crop has meant that many grapes where harvested earlier than normal. This was a mixed blessing: the quick ripening meant mid April downpours were avoided but picking too soon will have created problems for vineyards still waiting for fruit to ripen.
