Beaujolais Nouveau day on Thursday 16th November

This Thursday 16th November was Beaujolais Nouveau day. Beaujolais Nouveau is the light fruity wine that is the first wine released in any vintage. It cannot be sold before the third Thursday in November, which in 2017 fell on the 16th November.

While often thin and full of bubble gum flavours, the wines have gone from boom to bust, as Beaujolais' reputation developed from what is a very simple style of wine. However the rise and awareness of some of Beaujolais' more serious wines from their Cru vineyards has given them greater respectability.
