Champagne house Pommery first to release English Fizz!
Vranken Pommery Monopole (VPM), one of the larger Champagne houses, has released its first branded English sparkling wine called Louis Pommery England. The wine is currently available at Ocado for £29.99, putting it up on the top end of the English sparkling wine list.
Grown and made for VPM by Hampshire wine producer Hattingley Valley, VPM are in the process of planting their own 32 ha vineyard in Alresford, Hampshire. VPM plantings this winter are part of a larger planting that will see another 7-10% added to the UK vineyard area and a trebling of area under vine since 2004, according to Harpers magazine.
The Louis Pommery brand is used by VPM in the US to make the Louis Pommery California sparkling wine.
