Awards, Awards, Awards - Decanter, The Drinks Business and Drinks Retailing all announce winners.

The Drinks Business Awards 2018, Drink Retailing Most Influential 100 People and top medals at Decanter World of Wine Awards 2018 all announced winners this week.

Drink Retailing Most Influential 100 People include at number 1, head of wine buying, Waitrose, Pierpaolo Petrassi MW. Number 2 is Mike James wine buying director, Aldi and Wine and Spirits Trade Association Chief Executive, Miles Beale is at number three. Rowan Gormley, Chief Executive of Majestic slips in at number 4. While rounding out the top 5 positions is Ade McKeon, the UK General manager of Accolade wines. Other notable people include author and critic Jancis Robinson mW at 11th, TV broadcaster Joe Fattorini comes in at 22nd place and in 41st place is wine writer for the Daily Mail, Matthew Jukes.

David Glee MW (and 31st on the Drinks Retailing Most Influential) will also be happy as his company Liberty Wines awarded On-trade Supplier of the Year by Drinks Business. Catena Zapata Malbec Argentino by Stranger & Stranger was amongst all the awards for Packaging PR and Product Launches. Borough Wines scooped the Independent Retailer of the Year.

The Decanter Wine Awards Best in Show medals are the who's who of niche and pricey wines. The two most affordable winners were both from Majestic with Bodegas Fabre Viñalba Gran Reservado Malbec, Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina 2015 at £16.99 and Vavasour Sauvignon Blanc, Awatere Valley, Marlborough, New Zealand 2017 at £11.99. The most expensive wine to win was Justino’s 50 Year Old Madeira, Portugal NV. Stockist: Liberty Wines at £464.99.
