Bordeaux 2018 En Primeur set alight with Ch Angelus surprise early release at realistic prices
As many critics are still trying to process the two weeks of tasting the Bordeaux En Primeur 2018 vintages, top St Emillion producer Ch Angelus has launched its campaign by releasing its 2018 vintage at the same price at 2015 and down 8.7% on the 2017 vintage.
The price will please many Bordeaux watchers as the price of €252 per bottle ex-négociant is slightly cheaper to the wine from other good vintages that are currently available.
In general 2018 is looking like a good vintage if somewhat mixed. The temperatures were warmer than normal and alcohol levels were higher. But some of the wines are being credited as being very, very good, while others still good but not hitting the highs of the great vintages 2005, 2009 and 2010. It is a vintage that is mixed and will need careful following of critics to get the best from the wines available.
