China gets nasty with Australian wine imports

China has effectively banned Australian wine with a 107- 212% tariff on wines after relations between the two countries soured due to Australian calls for a full investigations into the cause of Covid-19.

China has been keen to stifle an investigation into the source of the Covid-19 pandemic and has responded to international pressure for an investigation by attacking countries who call for it.

Australia has been accused of dumping wine at below cost in China, and has opened an investigation. In September it sent a questionnaire to Australian wineries who shipped to China as part of the investigation. Since November, shipments to China have slowly ground to a halt, with boats, in many cases, not even allowed to dock in Chinese waters.
