Sutton Coldfield shop loses licence to sell alcohol after counterfeit wines found on the premises

KVK Supermarket in Sutton Coldfield lost its licence to sell alcohol after trading standards were called in when shoppers complained of strange tasting wines from Casella Brands, the people behind Yellow tail.

The police recommended the loss of licences after the shop made no attempt to understand how the counterfeit wines came to be in the store. With the manager blaming staff for the illegal activity.

Meanwhile, in China a new wheeze was discovered when three men were convicted of defrauding a logistics company. They purchased and shipped cheap wine but insured the wine for much more. When the wine arrived, they smashed the wines and complained that the wine was broken in transit, claiming the insurance. The first few times they got away with it, but eventually the shipping company got suspicious and brought in the police.
