Majestic announce a cork recycling scheme

Majestic announced this week that it plans to collect corks at its 190 stores, to be used as trial mulch for Cornwall's Eden project.

The concept is to help improve corks appalling carbon foot print. While cork may seem environmentally friendly, the relatively huge carbon foot print generated by faulty wines means that in all cases screw cap is by far the better closure for the environment. Aluminium ability to be recycled forever and the very low failure rate compared to cork, screw caps are well ahead of corks, which you use once and throw away.
