Waitrose announces it is ending its wine on tap refill initiative
Waitrose has announced it is ending its wine on tap refill initiative.
The trial to fill your own bottle of wine from wines on tap in store achieved, according to Waitrose “phenomenal results”, but sadly those results were not enough for the trial to continue.
Waitrose communications manager Matt Clemens told Drinks Retailing “Unpacked beer and wine was not as popular as some other concepts trialled so this has been removed while we consider how it could function in future iterations.”
Central London has a number of shops that offer to refill your wine bottles, including Made in Little France in Borough Market, whose Marcel The Wineman will deliver refilled wine to your door if you live in Hackney or Islington. Other UK cities with similar shops include The Good Life in Manchester and Zero Muda in Leeds.
