UK hospitality bounces back, London flat

Hospitality sales above pre-Covid levels but rampant inflation means there is still room to get back to pre-pandemic levels.

Sales by large pub and restaurant groups were 4% higher in March 2022 than March 2019 before the pandemic, but, with inflation since then being around 10%, there is still some room to go before parity.

Coffer CGA Business Tracker looked at the sales of 59 of the biggest bar and restaurant companies in the UK. The data suggests that while sales outside of London (using the M25 London ring road as a boundary) have rebounded strongly at 6%, London sales were flat. It is suggested that as international tourists come back to London over the summer sales will pick up.
