New Zealand 2022 vintage is bumper crop
After several years of low volumes that have tapped New Zealand's producers and cellars dry, 2022 will be a relief all round. They have seen an increase in volume of 43% versus the frost affected 2020 vintage that led New Zealand to radically reduce sales by 14%.
With New Zealand opening up to the world again and covid’s Omicron virus now spreading undeterred in New Zealand, labour for the harvesting was the only issue. Philip Gregan, CEO of New Zealand Winegrowers, said The improved harvest is good news for the industry and customers, as producers will be able to re-build seriously depleted stocks and sales, while customers should get to see retail shelves restocked once more”.
