Chapel Down UK's biggest winery
The 2022 English and Welsh harvest is expected to be very good with a warm and dry August meaning the grapes were very ripe by UK standards.
Chapel Down chief winemaker Josh Donaghay-Spire said, “Early indications were that this harvest would be a strong one and it has not disappointed either on yield or quality.” He went on to say “We expect the earlier harvest to result in a riper style of wine akin to that found in the successful 2018 or 2020 vintages.”
With a warm, dry summer and drought in much of the UK with areas still under a hose pipe ban, clean, healthy and ripe fruit is expected in most wine regions.
