Do motor heads prefer wine or car oil?

Wine expert Oz Clarke is taking a road trip through France’s vineyards with Top Gear’s James May for a new BBC series to be screened this autumn. Called Oz and James’s Big Wine Adventure, the aim of the six-part series is to have Clarke educate beer-drinker James - along with the rest of us - in the finer elements of wine appreciation. This all happens as they drive around France’s wine regions in a vintage Jag. And, since May admits in his Telegraph Motoring column this week, ‘I know nothing about French wine, or indeed any other type of wine,’ there’s obviously lots of mileage for Oz to cover.
