UK 2nd biggest market for Spain
Figures just published by the Spanish Wine Market Supervisory Board show that the UK is Spain's second biggest export market, behind Germany. The value of exports to the UK rose to €125.5 million in the first six months of this year and global exports were up 29% by volume and 20% by value. Germany, the UK and the US account for 40% of Spanish wine exports. Wines from Spain say the results are down to intense marketing campaigns and the trend on international markets to opt for more affordable products, with high growth figures in non-DO bottled wine sales as opposed to fine wine sales.
