Screw cap for fizz trialled in Australia
Australian winery Taylors is to seal its sparkling wine with a unique screw cap that can withstand the pressure of the bubbles, becoming Australia's first fizz to be sealed in this way. Whether Australian's will miss the celebratory popping of the cork remains to be seen but for everyday occasions screw caps for fizz could well take off. Taylors were one of the first to introduce screw caps for still wines and wanted to be the first to trial the new sparkling wine screw cap. Only 10 percent of its first release will be sealed with screw caps to start with to gauge consumer appeal.
