- Recycling Wine Bottles with Paul McLavin of O-I
Overview
Owen-Illinois (O-I)is the largest manufacturer of glass containers in the world. We find out how recycled glass is used in the production of new wine bottles with sales manager Paul McLavin.
We cover how recycling glass is an infinite process and how it is recycled to make new glass containers. Green glass normally contains 80-90% recycled glass and amber glass is lower at 30%. We also explore lightweight glass and other uses for recycled glass. Keeping coloured glass separated is clearly the best for the environment and Paul encourages the use of bottle banks to keep your glass colours separate right at the beginning of the recycling process.
