- Ryan Opaz on Wine Blogging
Overview
Ryan Opaz of Catavino is a prolific wine blogger. We find out how Ryan uses his blog to promote the wines and foods of Iberia and how his blogging has become a business.
Ryan founded Catavino in 2005 with his wife Gabriella after moving to Iberia, Spain. The Catavino blog has around 20,000 unique readers a month and explores the wine, food and culture of the region. Since then Ryan has been consulting wineries on how to market their brands on the Internet using social media and web 2.0 technology.
Ryan is also co-founder of the European Wine Bloggers Conference. The first conference was held in Rioja in 2008 with 50 people from 13 countries. The next conference was attended by 150 people and this year the conference will be held in Austria October 22-24. For more info visit www.winebloggersconference.org/europe.
