- Chateau Tanunda with Tim Smith and Matthew McCulloch
Overview
Matthew is General Manager and Tim is winemaker at Chateau Tanunda in the Barossa Valley, Australia. This year they have won the IWSC world's best Shiraz/Syrah trophy and for their Everest Granache 2008 picked up the Single Estate trophy for Grenache. Since the interview was recorded Chateau Tanunda also won Australian producer of the year, a fantastic accolade. Matthew and Tim tell us about the Chateau which has a rich heritage dating back to the mid 1800's when vines were first planted in the Barossa. The fruit today is still sourced from the Chateau's own vineyards and from old Barossa vineyards across the region. Tim describes himself as the laziest winemaker in the world and explains why that's a good thing!
