- Wine glasses with Ian Bailey of Zwiesel Kristallglas Part 1
Overview
In this first interview with Ian Bailey of Zwiesel Kristallglas we hear how the company came to develop the world's most durable crystal wine glass.
Zwiesel Kristallglas was founded in 1872 and originally made flat glass and stained glass windows. From 1924 the company started producing barware for hotels and restaurants and now that is their entire business with the biggest emphasis on wine glasses. Zwiesel was the first manufacturer to produce crystal on a production line and has since developed a crystal made from titanium and zirconium which is more durable than traditional lead crystal. We hear how important the durability and aesthetics are to the hotel and restaurant trade and how the quality of the glass is one of the three key factors in the overall restaurant experience.
