- Arne Bercher on the wines of Baden
Overview
Arne Bercher describes the different styles of wines produced in Baden including Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc. There are a variety of different soils in the region that will produce very different styles of the same grape variety. For example a Pinot Blanc (or Weissburgunder) from vines grown in loess will have pronounced green notes as well as apples and citrus flavour while in volcanic soil the wines are always more creamy, more mineral and the fruits more yellow and ripe.
