- Ian Steel on Swiss wines
Overview
Ian Steel has a wine importing company For the Love of Wine which he runs with his son. They import mainly Italian wines with some wines from Switzerland, Alsace and Germany. In this interview we focus on Switzerland and its main wine regions which span the different speaking areas from French-speaking to Italian and German. The main white wine is Chasselas accounting for much of the production and which shows as very many different expressions from the different regions. The main red grape is Pinot Noir, grown in the North. Surprisingly, Switzerland has many indigenous grape varieties which are grown on lots of small vineyards.
