Overview

JF Hillebrand is the global market leader as a specialist logistics provider to the beverage sector, mainly alcoholic. The company was established in 1884 and is now located wherever alcoholic beverages are produced or consumed. They have 47 offices around the world and are represented in 80 countries. They provide a one stop shop for transporting beverages around the world, door-to-door and offer a number of added value services. As well as the physical transportation of goods they manage all tax and duties on behalf of customers. Interestingly Hillebrand has a wine-only grouping service where they consolidate orders for multiple customers to optimise the load, minimise the freight costs and de-consolidate at the other end. Freight costs haven't been increasing unduly since the recession and there have been developments to keep costs down such as building larger vessels (holding as many as 18,000 containers) as well as improvements in fuel efficiency.
