Unusual wines and wine making practices of Philippe Lejeune of Chateau Chambert

This show was published 23 June 2017

Overview

In Part 2 of our interview with Philippe Lejeune of Chateau Chambert we talk about the different equipment he uses in his winery and some of the wines that are produced.

Philippe explains the reasons for using old concrete tanks for fermentation (and ageing) and the benefits vs stainless steel. We also discuss a fortified wine they are producing and the wine-making process which involves heating up the grapes. The Chateau Chambert range is small but includes a rose wine made from Malbec with some Chardonnay blended in. The wines are distributed in the UK by Liberty Wines and so can be found in independent retailers and restaurants.
