Overview
Duncan McTavich is the winemaker and CEO at the Man O' War winery, located on Waiheke Island, a 40 minute ferry ride from the coast of Auckland.
There are 29 wine producers on the island, summer attracts the tourists and most wineries only open during the season but Man o War open all year round.
They officially launched to the export market in 2009 in London and 10 years on they have a good presence in the UK (Enotria are their distributor) and also sell in the US, but the majority of sales are domestic.
They have 76 vineyards growing Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Semillon and Chardonnay and for reds Syrah plus 5 Bordeaux varieties - mainly Merlot and Cabernet Franc with some Malbec, Cab Sav and Petit Verdot.
