- The Wines of Chapel Down with Mark Harvey
Overview
In this second interview we talk to Mark about the wine division, the different vineyard sites and ownership/lease arrangements. The winery is based at Tenterden which is a smaller vineyard site but attracts over 60,000 visitors each year and is the home of Chapel Down.
The Chapel Down brand is used for the core range and Kits Coty is their single vineyard, premium range.
The Chapel Down volume still wines are Bacchus, Rose and Fling Dry (blend of Chardonnay and early ripening German varieties) at a price point £10-£14/bottle. Affordable entry point which are hugely important and growing.
At the premium end sits Kits Coty Bacchus and Chardonnay (£25-£30 retail). Chapel Down Brut Sparkling is £25 and then premium tier Kits Coty starts at £40. They are also making a carbonated Bacchus.
