Overview

Nick Palmer is Head of Product at Liv-ex, looking after systems and future innovation with customers to move the industry forward. Liv-ex stands for the London International Vintners Exchange, a trading platform for B2B wine trade customers. The platform consists of a system that allows members to buy and sell wine, a logistics network supporting the trades and thirdly, data generation.

We dig deeper into their unique LWIN coding system (Liv-ex Wine Identification Number) which help bring all of the information for a wine together, allowing easy identification of the wines, producers, vintages, drinking dates, bottle size etc. The automatic matching engine can process 10,000 lines a minute and the interface has been rigorously tested internally ahead of being launched onto the wider market. They monetise their services by charging members a rolling monthly membership fee to access the data with various subscription options.
