- In the Wine Dark Sea A Documentary on Crete Wines with Chrisa Giorgi
Overview
Chrisa Giorgi was born and raised in Crete, the 2nd largest wine producing area in Greece. She tells us how she came to document the story of the wines of Crete and create the 'In the Wine Dark Sea' documentary in 2020, the first year of the pandemic. After winning a number of film awards, an agent representing Chrisa secured its publication on Amazon Prime.
In the first interview Chrisa tells us a little about Crete the island, located in the Mediterranean sea halfway between mainland Greece and Africa, and its climate. The island stretches about 160 miles East to West with a spine of mountains running through the middle at up to 2,400 metres (c 7000 feet) elevation providing a micro-climate for north facing vineyards at planted at high elevations.
