Overview

Lisa McGovern is regional director of Wine Australia for the UK, Europe and Ireland. We find out about the strategy and plans for the promotion of Australian wine.

Lisa's role covers consumer and trade promotions and press relations for Wine Australia in the UK, Europe and Ireland. The current emphasis is on new regions and varieties as part of the Regional Heroes programmes which launched 2 years ago and came out of the Directions 2007 report. The programme focuses on driving awareness for 15 regions paired with the varieties they are best known for. All are specific GIs (geographical indications) and the idea is to provide a framework for understanding regionality within Australia.
