Alcohol Awareness Week - 19-25 November

It's Alcohol Awareness Week this week, a campaign led by the charity Alcohol Concern with the message 'it’s time to talk about drinking'. The UK currently has one of the highest rates of binge drinking in Europe and 10 million people in England drink above the current daily unit guidelines. But what are the guidelines? The government daily guidelines are 2-3 units for women and 3-4 units for men. When drinking wine, just one 250ml glass of a 12% ABV wine is equal to 3 units. The Alcohol Awareness campaign challenges us to give up alcohol for January as individuals or in sponsored groups so if you are up for it visit the Alcohol Concern website for more information at www.alcoholconcern.org.uk/campaign/alcohol-awareness-week

The Learning Zone at www.thirtyfifty.co.uk also has further information on alcohol levels in wine.

Alcohol Awareness Week 2012 runs from 19-25 November 2012.
