Le Week-end in Bordeaux a treat for claret fans
Wine enthusiasts can spend a weekend getting a real taste for Bordeaux at a special event being organised in France this May. Le Week-end des Grands Amateurs is designed to allow amateurs to taste like the experts as well as meet the men and women behind some of the great growths at many of the region’s famous chateaux.
As part of Bordeaux’s continuing efforts to make its wines more approachable, the Union des Grand Crus de Bordeaux is giving claret fans the chance to take part in an event that is usually restricted to wine professionals.
The weekend programme begins with a tasting on Saturday 12th May. Over a 100 chateaux are participating, including such prestigious names as Chateaux Lynch-Bages, Figeac, Pichon-Longueville and Haut-Bailly. Then, in the evening, there is a rare chance for Bordeaux lovers to have dinner at one of a number of chateaux, in the Medoc, Graves, Sauternes, St-Emilion and Pomerol.
The following day the chateaux will open their doors to offer visitors a personalised vineyard tour and tasting and various themed activities are also being organised.
Anyone interested in the event should check out the www.bordeaux.com website for more information.
