Bond style wine cellar
Like something out of the latest Bond movie, a wine cellar is to be built inside the rock of Gibraltar. The rock is already home to 32 miles of tunnels built by Royal Engineers ahead of the Second World War. Access has been restricted but many of the tunnels are large enough to fit 2 x 10 ton trucks next to each other. By converting the rock into an underground wine cellar capable of storing 850,000 cases, the rock could become the world's largest underground wine storage facility. The government is hoping the new cellar could boost wine tourism in Gibraltar. Construction is expected to start soon with completion set for mid 2017.
