37 new English wine producers in 2015
37 new still and sparkling wine producers were registered in England last year, according to research from accountancy firm UHY Hacker Young, making 170 new producers in the past 5 years.
Around two thirds of England’s wine production is sparkling, with Defra predicting that English wine exports will rise from £3.2m in 2015 to more than £30m by 2020.
Many of the vineyards offer tastings and tours with restaurants and accommodation for overnight guests and can double up as a wedding venue to generate additional revenue.
