Bollinger Century sale
A rare auction of historic Bollinger champagne is set to take place this November at Sothebys in New York. A century of Bollinger will be auctioned direct from the Champagne houses cellars. The auction includes a recently found bottle of Bollinger 1914 found in a disused gallery cellar under the village of Ay. It also includes six lots of the Bollinger's sought after Vieilles Vignes Francaises bottling, which is sourced from ungrafted vines and 35 lots of RD (Bollinger Recent Disgourgment) spanning four decades. The RD lots include 3 bottles from the 1973 vintage with a high estimate of US$2,200 and a jeroboam from 1979 worth upto $3,200. This is a rare event for Bollinger selling direct from their cellars, but Sotheby's said this is an exciting development that they are seeing more and more of.
