Queens makes her own Fizz
The Queens fizz whose 2013 vintage was first showcased at HM's 90th birthday in 2016 is proving so popular pre-orders are already being placed for the 2014 vintage. The Windsor Great Park sparkling wine has been produced on the Queens Windsor estate in collaboration with Laithwaites and Ridgeview. 3000 bottles were produced of the 2013 Chardonnay/Pinot Noir/ Meunier which tastes of toasted brioche, lemon and apricot. The production is closely overseen by the Duke of Edinburgh who is the head ranger of the park. Her majesty isn't the first monarch to produce wine on the Windsor Estate. King Henry 2nd also liked a bit of home brew and cultivated vines in the 12th century. The estate are hoping to increase production to 20k bottles by 2024.
