Decanter has elected one of their own, Steven Spurrier. as Decanter's Man of the Year. The parting gift was given to Steven Spurrier as he retires as Decanter's En Primeur Bordeaux Left Bank specialist and has spurred a change of the team covering the 2016 vintage.

Gone from Decanter Bordeaux coverage are heavyweights Spurrier, Ian D’Agata, Decanter's Sauternes expert, and James Lawther Right Bank expert. Now Jane Anson is the only person from Decanter to cover the entire 2016 Bordeaux. Decanter hope that readers will appreciate the single point of view, claiming it will give greater focus and consistency.
