Wine Shops - the New Renaissance
The once a week supermarket shop killed off many small independent wine retailers and off licences in the last 20 years, as consumer bought wine as part of their weekly shop. But UK shopping habits are changing and the big weekly shop is becoming less popular. In 2014 72% did a weekly shop in a large supermarket but in 2017 the number had fallen to 65%, according to a TouchPoints Survey of 6,000 British consumers. This is good news for our thriving specialist wine retailers and the high street in general.
