Macon gets new Premier Cru sites

Four new Premier Cru Climats in Pouilly-Loché and Pouilly-Vinzelles are expected in Mâcon, Burgundy, in the next 18 months. This will add to the 22 Premier Cru sites (or Climats) already in Pouilly-Fuissé announced in 2020.

The process has taken 14 years since the application was first made to France's INAO along with the larger Pouilly-Fuissé. Pouilly-Fuissé was granted first but Pouilly-Loché and Pouilly-Vinzelles are expecting theirs to be accepted soon.

Pouilly-Loché and Pouilly-Vinzelles are both in the south of Macon, just to the east of the more famous Pouilly-Fuissé. These wines are often the ripest and highest alcohol white wines in Burgundy.
