Wine labels to include nutrition and ingredients
New EU labelling rules come into force in December which will require ingredients list and nutritional information to be declared on the bottle.
Wine has been for a long time been unusual as not requiring nutritional or ingredients information on the label. This is about to change. The new rules come into force on the 8th December 2023 and will require this information available to shoppers.
Not all information has to be printed on the label. A QR code can be used to send shoppers to a website where the information can be found.
There seems to be some confusion in the trade about these requirements and when they will come into force. On Thursday 16 November the OIV will be hosting a webinar for producers and those interested in the rules to explain them.
