UK is top Chilean wine importer

UK is the key market for Chile wine producers, after strong growth and weaker demand in China and USA.

According to the Observatorio Español del Mercado del Vino (OEMV), the UK has now zipped past both China and the USA, clinching the top spot as Chile's biggest export market by value.

In the first quarter of 2024, Chile saw a healthy 9.6% surge in wine exports by volume and a 3.3% boost in value - a big rebound from a dreary 2023, which was one of the gloomiest chapters in over a decade for Chilean wine exports.

Chile did manage to grow its market share in China to 17% but France proved to be the biggest beneficiaries of the fall in Australian exports due to the tariffs imposed, gaining a market share of 49%.
