Insights from the World Bulk Wine Exhibition 2025

Bulk wine emerged as a rare bright spot at WBWE 2025 in Amsterdam, showing impressive resilience despite falling global wine consumption, inflation and shifting lifestyles. Fresh data suggests the category is not just surviving, but quietly reshaping the wine trade.

Figures presented at the exhibition showed bulk wine accounts for more than a third of global wine trade, with 33 million hectolitres shipped between June 2024 and June 2025. While volumes dipped slightly, bulk wine outperformed bottled wine and proved far more stable in a turbulent market.

Spain retained its position as the world’s leading exporter, followed by Italy, New Zealand, Australia, Chile and France. The UK remained the top importer by value, with Germany leading by volume.

Crucially, bulk wine is driving innovation. Growth in low and no alcohol wines, ready-to-drink formats, and sustainable packaging such as bag-in-box and kegs is attracting new consumers. WBWE 2025 confirmed bulk wine’s growing role as a strategic, future-facing engine for the global wine industry.
