Asda wine goes to Japan
Four wines from Asda's Extra Special own label brand are to be launched in 40 stores in Japan which are operated by Seiyu, a subsidiary of Asda's parent company Wal-Mart.
The Japanese retailer will be listing Chenin Blanc, Pinotage, claret and Medoc wines which will sell for between 700 and 1,000 yen, the equivalent of £5 to £8 in the UK.
Seiyu say that wine is becoming more popular in Japan, particularly amongst women, and that UK branded products are well-received.
