Majestic buys fine wine merchant

The UK's biggest wine warehouse chain Majestic has bought fine wine merchant Lay & Wheeler for £6 million - a modest investment according to the chief executive of Majestic, Steve Lewis.

Lay & Wheeler will continue to operate from its current base in Suffolk with Johnny Wheeler, the only remaining family member in the business, becoming president. The future of its 35 staff is not yet known.
